Project: VISION (www.projectvisionchicago.org) is a small grassroots nonprofit organization serving youth in Chicago’s Chinatown, Bridgeport, and surrounding neighborhoods. We provide free after school programming primarily to youth from low income, first generation immigrant families. We are seeking tutors for our After School Homework Tutoring Program. Tutors help high school (grades 9-12… students build their knowledge, basic skills, and good study habits so that they can improve and succeed in their academics. We are seeking tutors with strong personal academic records and enthusiasm and passion for teaching!
Responsibilities
Provide students with homework help, check work, subject tutoring, and assist with test preparation
Provide enrichment activities that improve students knowledge and academic skills
Role model and provide mentoring to students
Help maintain student progress reports
Qualifications
Have at least college sophomore standing or higher
Must have a strong academic record and be confident teaching a variety of high school level subjects
Experience working with youth in the 14-18+ age group preferred
Organized, reliable, punctual, self-motivated and team player
Excellent communication skills
Shifts are available Mondays-Fridays 3-7p and Saturdays 10a-1p. All shifts will be in-person at the PV HS Center. Tutors must be able to commit to working at least three shifts (minimum 3 hours per shift) each week through the end of the academic school year (June 2, 2023). Candidates who are able to work 4 or more shifts per week will be prioritized
