La Salle University’s Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice invites applications for a full-time, one-year appointment, beginning in August 2024. Candidates must have the ability to teach courses in the area of courts/law/sociolegal studies as well as other upper-level electives and topical courses. The position requires teaching four courses a semester, advising students, and providing… collegial service to the Department and University. The Sociology and Criminal Justice Department resides in La Salle’s School of Arts and Sciences. The Department offers two majors: (1) Sociology and (2) Criminal Justice, and provides service teaching for many programs including Social Work and Nursing. The Sociology and Criminal Justice program at La Salle University is committed to providing students with a dynamic educational experience. • Development and instruction of new and existing course that may include: Criminal Law, Criminal Courts, Crimes of the Powerful, Introduction to Criminal Justice and other classes depending on departmental need and instructor’s area of expertise.
• Academic advising and mentoring of departments majors/minors.
• Attends department meetings and other university events, as applicable.
• Participation in prospective student recruitment activities for the University
• Supervision of undergraduate student research projects
• Perform other duties assigned
• Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Legal Studies or Sociology. ABD candidates with completion date by time of appoint will be considered, OR Juris Doctorate (JD).
