The Department of Criminal Justice Services is seeking a collaborative and innovative team player to serve as a full-time Trainer/Instructor in the Division of Licensure and Regulatory Services for the State of Virginia. This position is dedicated to the support, development, coordination, and delivery of training to regulated constituents. What you will do:
● Select and use appropriate training/instructional methods and procedures.
● Monitor, assess, and audit performance of training schools or organizations for the purpose of making improvements or implementing corrective actions.
● Review, approve, or deny all new training school applications.
● Coordinate Regional Compliance Agent, Instructor, and In-Service Firearm training.   
● Create and deliver professional development training via classroom, online, instructor-led, and self-paced learning methodologies.
● Serve as an internal training consultant to school directors, compliance agents and registrants across the Commonwealth for the purpose of identifying development needs and solutions.
● Provide ongoing assessment of training development programs to ensure relevance and satisfaction of key stakeholders.
● Create and manage internal training programs.
● Review, process, and control all manual and automated records of all training related applications submitted to the division.
● Provide technical assistance and customer service to external and internal customers.
● Work with the management team on developing statutory and regulatory programs under the authority of the Division.      

Minimum Qualifications

What the ideal candidate must possess:
● Demonstrated ability to present complex information to a variety of diverse audiences.
● Exposure to utilizing a variety of training methods, tools, and techniques in the delivery of instructional programs.
● Considerable exposure to utilizing different types of learning management systems.
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 to include, but limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
● Demonstrated exposure to program planning and development, conducting needs assessment, research program evaluation and inspection and certification.
● Ability to occasionally travel day and overnight.
● Demonstrated exposure in working both as an active and contributing team member as well as independently and self-motivated employee.
● A strong work ethic, great customer service skills and an active listener.
● Ability to think strategically and cross culturally, and independently implement new initiatives and projects.
● Ability to articulate, both orally and in written form, clear and concise program objectives, goals and summarize achievements of programs in reports and other documents as requested.     
● Demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines, handle multiple assignments, changing priorities, and ensure timeliness and quality of completed assignments.

Additional Considerations

● Exposure to or working knowledge of areas related to criminal justice, social work, psychology, political science, public administration, project management, or adult learning techniques preferred.     

Special Instructions

Interview candidates may be required to demonstrate the skills and abilities necessary for satisfactory performance of work. The candidate selected for the position must successfully complete a criminal background investigation and complete and submit a Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) which will be entered into the Federal E-Verify system to confirm identity and work authorization. The individual may also be responsible for submitting an annual Statement of Personal Economic Interest. In addition, the selected candidate who begins original employment or re-employment in this position must serve a 12-month probationary period effective from the date of employment. The anticipated starting salary range is $71,000 to $81,000 plus the state’s benefits package.
