Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic After-School English Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and the ability to create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students in grades K-6. This role involves planning and delivering engaging English language lessons that enhance students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Lesson Planning and Delivery:
Develop and implement age-appropriate English lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and educational standards.
Create interactive and engaging activities to promote literacy and language development.
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
Classroom Management:
Establish a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
Maintain discipline and manage classroom behavior effectively.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during after-school hours.
Assessment and Evaluation:
Monitor and assess student progress through informal assessments, quizzes, assignments.
Provide constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth.
Communicate students’ progress and any concerns to parents and the After-School Program Director.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other after-school program staff to ensure a cohesive and enriching experience for students.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Maintain open and effective communication with parents regarding student performance and program updates.
Classroom Environment:
Organize and manage classroom materials and resources effectively.
Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that celebrates diversity and fosters mutual respect.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field.
Teaching certification or relevant teaching experience, preferably with elementary-aged students.
Strong understanding of child development and effective instructional strategies for young learners.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team and build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with children.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in an after-school program or similar educational setting.
Current elementary, middle & high school teachers are plus!
Familiarity with technology and digital tools for education.
