About the Intensive English Language Institute (IELI):
Since 1977, our Intensive English Language Institute has been committed to offering top-notch English instruction and student services. We provide comprehensive language programs with up to twenty hours of instruction each week across various proficiency levels. Our goal is to ensure students meet the English language requirements for our degree programs, enriching their educational experience.
Position Overview:
As an English Language Instructor, you will play a crucial role in delivering engaging and effective language instruction. You’ll be responsible for:
Teaching and Classes (Approximately 80%):
Conducting twenty hours of core or supplemental classes weekly, adhering to our established curriculum and policies.
Being available for substitute teaching as needed.
Preparing course materials, writing syllabi, updating lesson plans, and organizing instructional content on our learning management system.
Participating in curriculum development and high-priority projects, including text and test development.
Holding office hours for individual or small-group student assistance.
Service Component (Approximately 20%):
Mentoring new instructors and serving on IELI committees.
Attending scheduled and special IELI meetings, including new student orientations and end-of-term events.
Engaging in program activities and responding promptly to student and administrative communications.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience teaching ESL at a university-level IEP focused on English for Academic Purposes.
Experience teaching all language skills and adapting content to diverse student needs.
Proficiency in teaching remote classes using video conferencing and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in a second language.
Experience living or working abroad.
Familiarity with teaching at IELI or similar institutions.
Additional Information:
