Job Description
The primary functions of this position are:
• Teach 18-24 contact hours per semester per the college Manual of Policy in nursing. Teach in assigned lab and/or simulated lab activities…
• Design and implement the simulation curriculum plan to meet requirements for the various nursing, health sciences, and public safety programs. This includes assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of courses and program objectives. It also includes classroom pre and debriefing and simulation scenario education.
• Schedule office hours to be available to students per college policy.
This position is sensitive and will require a criminal background check.
• Full-time 12 Month position

Essential Duties Summary
• Work collaboratively with faculty, simulation center staff, and administrative staff to develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate simulation-based education and complete any relevant responsibilities such as arriving to all assigned duties in timely manner.
• Teach assigned simulation load and participate in event scenario planning meetings, to provide curriculum and learning objective expertise consistent with current simulation accreditation standards.
• Directly supervise and evaluate students in the simulated clinical setting. Requires written and verbal evaluation based on performance and behavioral objectives.
• Work collaboratively to train and orientate on principles of simulation, educational techniques, debrief, and other activities as appropriate and assigned.
• Develop and lead faculty development activities including courses, individual instruction, print and online resources as appropriate for advanced simulation techniques.
• Communicate to ensure needs of simulation(s) and evaluation activities are met.
• Collaborate with operation specialists, faculty, and staff to ensure appropriate fidelity and realism of simulation events including moulage, equipment, supplies, and rooms/furniture.
• Assist with set up and removal of simulation scenario supplies and equipment as needed.
• Assist with the set up and maintenance of nursing lab facilities and equipment.
• Assist with nursing lab instruction and clinical skill check offs as needed.
• Facilitate and carry out the simulated events/scenarios as assigned and as appropriate.
• Orient and assist full-time and part-time IPE- SC faculty as needed.
• Serve on and participate in division, nursing, PERC, and one annual advisory board meeting as available.
• Participate in in-services, professional growth training, seminars and workshops and maintain current nursing license and certifications if applicable.
• Exhibit and uphold the highest professional nursing standards.
• Participate in Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) Accreditation Self Study/Site and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) visit processes and provide data for Florida Board of Nursing annual reports as needed.
• Maintain computer competency to meet college and instructional needs.
• Counsel, refer, remediate, and tutor students and utilize disciplinary processes as needed.
• Engage in self-evaluation activities and goal setting each academic year.

Required Qualifications
Minimum of a Masters Degree in Nursing

Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience

Current Florida Registered Nursing License, including minimum of 24 continued education units every 2 years.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in nursing simulation training preferred
Certification by a nationally recognized simulation accrediting body preferred.
