All teaching faculty at Copiah-Lincoln Community College must have special competence in the fields in which they teach.
• In all academic areas, the master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours of specialization in the teaching field is considered the minimum standard.
• In specialized, professional, career, or technical fields, evidence of professional competency is acceptable in lieu of formal academic preparation. This competence must be based upon appropriate specialized training or successful experience as a practitioner in the occupational field.
• In order to teach through the Mississippi Virtual Community College (MSVCC) and in addition to the credentials listed above, teaching faculty must complete the 2 courses listed below through the MSVCC Academy.
• Go to https://msvcc.catalog.instructure.com/
• Browse the listings to locate “Growing with Canvas” and “Digging Deeper with Designing and Teaching”.
• Click “Enroll”. (You’ll do this for each course.)
• Complete the form with your full name, email, and institution. The institution needs to be your current employer, regardless of the industry (does not have to be education).
• Once you’re enrolled, you can return to the MSVCC Catalog, log in with your new credentials, and access your student dashboard to go to your courses.
• Once the sessions are complete, you can download a PDF version of your certificate.
