Licensed Special Education Preschool Teacher

The Licensed Special Education Preschool Teacher is responsible to provide for the educational development and well-being of each student served Little Cats Early Learning Academy.

Responsibilities…
• Plans and implements lessons based on the Early Learning – Indiana Academic Standards
• Provides direct and/or indirect services to students according to each Individual Education Plan (IEP)
• Participates in the case conference committee meetings as the student’s teacher, providing present levels of performance and suggested goals, objectives and/or benchmarks for consideration by the committee
• Monitors the implementation of each student’s IEP and provides progress reports to each student’s parents/guardian
• Communicates with parents on a regular basis regarding the progress of their children, specific issues, and what is happening in the classroom in general
• Designs a well-ordered arrangement and appearance of the learning environment within the preschool classroom
• Conducts developmental assessments used for data collection and analysis
• Establishes procedures of classroom management and/or process for specific behavioral intervention plans
• Ensures the safety of preschool students within the preschool classroom and upon the rest of the school grounds
• Treats each child with dignity and respect.
• Directs implementation of services provided by classroom paraprofessionals.
• Attends staff meetings, in-service training, and assumes responsibility for continued professional growth.
• Directs issues and problems to the appropriate person in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Follows and establishes policies and procedures at Little Cats Early Learning Academy and Whitko Community School Corporation
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
• Complete all requirements pertaining to Paths to Quality accreditation.
• Plan, organize and schedule priorities.
• Discreetly handle confidential sensitive matters.
• Make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Tactfully and courteously, respond to requests and inquiries/complaints from the co-workers, staff and community.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing in a positive and encouraging manner.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
• Efficiently use cleaning materials, supplies and equipment

Qualifications
• Valid Indiana Teaching License with Special Education
• Use independent judgment and initiative in making sound decisions and in developing solutions to problems
• Stooping/kneeling/crouching – constantly
• Hearing and speaking clearly – constantly
• Lifting (up to 30 lbs.)
• However, management and administration reserves the right to modify, add, or remove duties and assign other duties as necessary

Employment Requirements

• Valid Indiana Teaching License with Special Education
