Nursing Tutor

POSITION REPORTS TO: Crown Point Nursing Track Director
LOCATION: Crown Point
JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Crown Point Nursing Track Director, the nursing tutor assists students in content from nursing classes. Serving University of Saint Francis (USF) students and the USF community is paramount. To provide a consistent quality experience across the university, the USF Way, outlined in the Employee Handbook, is used to describe service expectations for all employees.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:
• Tutor students in nursing class content
• Interpret pertinent course materials such as syllabi,, course/homework instructions, or any educational information that will assist in the student’s learning experience
• Facilitate student’s understanding of nursing course objectives and clarification of content
• Maintain attendance documentation of tutoring sessions
• Collaborate with faculty to develop review activities that enhance student understanding
• Maintain student confidentiality according to FERPA guidelines

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
• Associate degree in Nursing
Licensure/Certification
• A current Indiana RN license required
Experience
• Current knowledge of the Medical/Surgical nursing through at least 1 year of relevant work experience within the last 5 years
Knowledge and Skills
• Competence in educational principles and techniques used in higher education classrooms, laboratory and clinical settings
• Knowledge of the profession including theory and practice, procedures, and regulations
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and electronic) necessary to interact effectively with students, faculty, professional staff, administration, clinical affiliates, and the community

The Nursing Tutor is expected to demonstrate a commitment to learning and growth by:

• Expanding knowledge in their area of specialty on an ongoing basis.
