Position Description…

The Department of Psychological Sciences at Texas Tech University announces an opening for a continuing appointment eligible position at the Lecturer level specializing in online teaching in the area of Clinical and Counseling Psychology. Lecturers will have the option of working fully remotely within the United States or from the Texas Tech campus in Lubbock, TX. The anticipated start date is August 22nd, 2024.

Starting salary is commensurate with the starting salary for tenure-track positions in the Texas Tech Department of Psychological Sciences.

Major/Essential Functions

At Texas Tech University, the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer title designates a full-time, non-tenure-acquiring role with primary duties in teaching organized classes and/or instructional labs.

Faculty Qualifications

Doctoral degree in psychology or related field (e.g. human development, educational psychology) anticipated by start date;
Experience as instructor of record for courses in psychology. In line with TTU’s strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate level.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
Doctoral degree in area relevant to the specific position, such as experimental psychology (e.g., developmental psychology, social psychology, human factors psychology) or clinical/counseling psychology;
Experience developing online courses, psychology or related fields preferred;
Evidence of effective online teaching of courses relevant to the specific position (i.e. general psychology, experimental psychology, and/or clinical/counseling psychology courses);
Training in pedagogy of online teaching;
Technology skills, especially in the use of LMS, virtual presentation software, and video recording software;
Evidence of effective face-to-face teaching of psychology courses;
Experience working with diverse student populations, such as non-traditional and first-generation students;
Professionalism and collegiality.
