More About Our Program Proposal and Student Union

Our NSF-funded program study challenged us to scale the program to serve a wider field of public schools in NYC and beyond. To this end, we are applying for an NYC DOE Multi-Task Award Contract (MTAC) in the area of STEAM education and teacher professional development. Our program seeks to provide NYC public schools with student in-school or after-school hands-on STEAM learning experiences while simultaneously training their teachers to continue to offer STEAM-skills infused learning in their regular academic classes. More about us: Student Union connects college students pursuing STEAM and education degrees with K-12 students who are discovering early passions, skills, and confidence in STEAM. Our college-level Maker Fellow instructors apply their advanced university learning in leading STEAM learning classes for underprivileged elementary, middle, and high school students who learn STEAM skills by building hands-on projects in in-school, afterschool, and summer camp settings (STEAM: science, tech, engineering, arts, math).

Why Participate?

Contribute to Educational Innovation: Play a part in helping shape an NSF-funded program that aims to improve STEAM education in NYC schools.

Gain Recognition: Participants will receive recognition in our proposal as contributing educators (if you wish). Participants are not obligated in any way to participate in the program delivery.

We look forward to potentially collaborating with you and benefiting from your valuable experience and expertise!
