Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher (Education Specialist) to join our team. In this role, you will provide individualized instruction to students with special needs in an inclusive classroom setting. You will collaborate closely with our Special Education staff, work with outside consultants and district personnel, and be an integral part of our school community.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct academic assessments, write reports, and present at IEP meetings.
Communicate with faculty and parents about student progress through meetings, phone calls, and emails.
Stay updated on current special education regulations and best practices.
Work with general education teachers to ensure that student accommodations and modifications are effectively implemented.
Assist in developing the master schedule to accommodate all student IEP needs.
Manage IEP service tracking and adhere to all IEP timelines.
Ensure rigorous academic standards for students with disabilities to guarantee equitable access to the curriculum.
Create and share progress monitoring tools with the IEP team.
Collaborate with team members and service providers to review student data, implement IEPs and behavior plans, and co-teach or co-plan.
Oversee paraprofessional support, including scheduling and IEP implementation.
Organize and maintain records, files, and reports in compliance with regulations.
Provide health and mobility supports as needed and assist with physical needs of students.
Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans and collaborate with staff on student progress.
Co-plan and co-teach with general education teachers.
Develop and implement individualized transition programs for students.
Qualifications
CA Special Education Teaching Credential (Mild/Moderate Education Specialist) is required.
Bridge Authorizations for Mild-Moderate Credentials received prior to June 2022 are preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
Expertise in grade-level Common Core State Standards and IEP goal development.
Knowledge of co-teaching models and inclusive education practices.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with independent self-reflection and collaboration.

Experience
2+ years of experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to move in various positions and environments, including tight spaces.
Capacity to remain stationary for extended periods.
Flexibility to move between different work sites as needed.
Ability to communicate and exchange information effectively.
Work Authorization
Must clear the Department of Justice background screening.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Health (TB) clearance required, renewed every four years.
Work Environment
Work in a standard office, classroom, and outdoor environments.
Exposure to dust, oils, and cleaning chemicals, as well as occasional exposure to illnesses.
May require working outside typical hours to meet operational needs.
