Caseload:
Elementary school students (Kindergarten and 1st grade)
10 students in a self-contained Emotional-Sensory-Communication (ESC) classroom, a specialized program supporting students with autism
The students have cognitive abilities for academics but require additional support for staying on task, developing social-emotional skills, and other needs
The classroom includes 1 paraprofessional, with additional support from behavior consultants, occupational therapists, and other specialists who provide services during the week
Key Responsibilities:
Provide academic instruction and behavioral support in a self-contained classroom setting for students with autism
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) focused on emotional, sensory, and communication needs
Collaborate with paraprofessionals, behavior consultants, OTs, and other support staff to provide comprehensive services
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment to support social-emotional growth and academic success
Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress
Qualifications:
Active Indiana Special Education Teacher License
Experience working with students with autism and supporting emotional-sensory-communication needs
Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
Patience, flexibility, and a passion for working with diverse learners
