**Overview:**
We are seeking a highly qualified Science Teacher (9-12) to join our team at Lincolnton High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of science subjects to students in grades 9-12, promoting scientific literacy, and fostering a love of learning. **Responsibilities:**
• Teach skills, knowledge, and scientific attitudes through courses in general… science, earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, physiology, or science problems to secondary pupils
• Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
• Plan a science program involving demonstrations, lectures, discussions, and student experiments
• Organize laboratory activities for optimal learning
• Provide individual or small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils
• Instruct pupils in proper use, care, and safe handling of chemicals, science equipment, and plant and animal life
• Provide for safe storage and proper use of materials, equipment, and tools
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior for a productive learning environment
• Evaluate each pupil’s growth in knowledge and skills in course being taught
• Select and request books, instructional aids, science equipment, chemicals, and supplies
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities and self-selected professional growth activities
• Identify pupils’ needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems
• Perform other duties as assigned
• *Qualifications:**
Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina teaching license in an appropriate licensure area. Preferred qualifications include Math 9-12 Certification and Science 9-12 Certification. The position will require Science Praxis (#5435 and #5624). **Benefits:**
