The Position:

Position General Summary:

The Welding Technology Instructor, Florida Scholars Academy (FSA) provides an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to reach their full educational potential. This position organizes and implements an instructional program resulting in students achieving academic success in accordance with state policies and laws.
Essential Position Functions:
• Plan, prepare, and implement engaging instruction in the content area that align with FLDOE state standards.
• Model and exercise safe practices and prepare students to operate equipment safely.
• Study and interpret blueprints and measurements.
• Operate torches and power supplies.
• Use and maintain specialized welding machines and equipment.
• Weld components and monitor stages of the welding process.
• Assess the quality of welds and identify flaws.
• Participate in the recruitment of students for the CTE programs.
• Identify, select, create, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students.
• Engage with the local business and industry community for student job placement opportunities.
• Conduct roll calls, maintain attendance records, and ensure effective classroom management.
• Evaluate students and provide feedback on their academic and behavioral progress.
• Participate in professional development and stay current with industry trends.
• Communicate with students, parents/guardians, and stakeholders within established timelines.
• Support any other academic-related topic established by the administration.

Minimum Requirements:

Degreed Vocational Education Teacher:
• Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in subject area
• At least 2 years of full-time occupational experience in the area of the teaching assignment

OR

Non-Degreed Vocational Teacher:
• Hold a high school diploma or GED, and document three years of full-time occupational experience.
• Completion of a training program specific to the area, or a valid certificate from a recognized credentialing agency.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s):
• Operational knowledge of the Internet and Web-related technologies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Ability to learn and apply required computer applications.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
• Daily travel is required to the assigned residential facility.
• Light physical activities are required working in an office environment.
