Position Overview:
Florida Coastal University is seeking a qualified and passionate Adjunct Instructor to teach College Algebra. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics and a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment for undergraduate students. This position is part-time, and the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering engaging coursework, assessing student progress, and providing feedback and guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and teach College Algebra courses in alignment with the university’s curriculum.
• Provide instruction that promotes the understanding of algebraic concepts, problem-solving techniques, and practical applications.
• Assess student performance through assignments, quizzes, exams, and participation.
• Maintain timely communication with students and provide support when necessary.
• Participate in course-related discussions, provide office hours, and respond to student inquiries.
• Follow institutional policies regarding grading, attendance, and academic integrity.
• Stay current with developments in mathematics education to ensure teaching effectiveness.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Mathematics or a closely related field.
• Previous teaching experience in college-level mathematics is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of algebraic concepts and teaching methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage students with diverse learning styles.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters or Doctorate degree in Mathematics or a related field.
• Experience in online teaching and familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) such as Blackboard or Canvas.
