Mount St. Joseph University’s School of Arts & Sciences is seeking adjunct professors in Child Life. We are initially seeking someone to create two courses: 1) Child Life and 2) Play Therapy. The curriculum content requirements are specified by the Association of Child Life Professionals and include the scope of child life practice, family centered care, therapeutic play, preparation, the impact of illness, and play theories and environments.
This same individual may also be hired to teach the above courses, and responsibilities may include the following:
• Course instruction
• Grading assignments
• Monitoring student participation
• Office hours
• Meetings with the Chair and/or faculty
• Adherence to department and university policies and procedures
• Maintaining open communication with students, staff, and faculty
• Maintaining the confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA
• Ability to use technology in teaching
Qualifications
Education: Master’s Degree in Child Life or other relevant degree
Certification: Current certification as a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS)
Experience:
• Evidence of past teaching excellence and relevant professional experience
• Has a minimum of 5 years of paid child life clinical experience
• Preference for a minimum of 2 years of experience teaching child life subject matter OR clinical child life student supervision
Professional Attributes: Strong verbal and written communication skills
