Special Instructions to Applicant:

Auburn University at Montgomery invites applications for a
full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice to
begin August 2024. This position is on-site and requires both
face-to-face and online instruction. Areas of specialization are
open, with preference given to candidates who demonstrate the
ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate required core
courses (i.e., introductory, methods, and ethics courses). Ability
to teach courses in homeland security a plus. Candidates will also
be expected to contribute to the department’s career advising and
mentoring of students.

Minimum requirements:
• A Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice or other
closely-related social science field is required; however,
consideration will be given to candidates who are ABD with degree
completion by August 2024.
• Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and the
ability to develop electives in areas of expertise.
• Evidence of an established research program or ability to
develop one.
• Commitment to community and professional service.

AUM has an official 4/3 teaching load. Faculty with ongoing
scholarship and publication usually receive a course release for a
normal 3/3 load. Internal funding and professional improvement
leave to support scholarship are available.

The Department of Criminal Justice includes six full-time faculty.
We offer a Criminal Justice major with an optional Legal Studies
Concentration, a Master of Science in Criminal Justice, a Master of
Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and minors
in Law Enforcement, Corrections, Juvenile Justice, Security
Administration, and Legal Studies. Our Legal Studies Program is ABA
-approved.
