The Department of Social Work at Chicago State University (CSU), Illinois invites applications for open rank tenured associate / tenure track assistant professor positions in the Master of Social Work (MSW) program in the Department of Social Work

The Department of Social Work offers a master’s degree in social work (MSW), with specializations that focus on the population of children and families in Direct Practice, Administration and Planning, and School Social Work. The Department facilitates two MSW programs: a two-year model and a three-year model. The Social Work Department seeks individuals who are committed to a model of collaboration in program governance and development as well as joint research projects. An environment that supports collective and individual efforts is embedded in the culture of the CSU.
• Primary responsibilities for this position include teaching generalist practice courses, advance practice micro courses, as well as other micro, mezzo, and macro level courses as needed. Field liaison responsibilities and service are also required.
• Engage across professional and disciplinary programs in inter-professional education to develop and grow the curriculum to ensure meaningful and collaborative opportunities in all aspects of the program.
• Represent the program to community organizations.
• Ensure adequate resources for systematically designing, supervising, coordinating, and evaluating field education.
• In collaboration with faculty, plan, develop, and evaluate all courses and the overall curriculum.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
Required Education

Doctorate required, PhD preferred in social work/social welfare or related field. ABDs may apply but must show evidence that the degree will be completed by the time of appointment.
Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited social work program.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Candidate should have expertise in direct social work practice.
Candidate should have the ability to work effectively and collegially with a culturally diverse group of students, staff, faculty, and community.
Candidates should have at least five years post-MSW social work practice and/or research experience with communities disproportionately impacted by trauma.
Evidence of the ability to conduct independent research.
Applicants must demonstrate potential to develop and maintain a focused research agenda that includes practice and or program development with communities impacted by trauma and violence.
Commitment and willingness to seeking external funding.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with prior teaching experience in a graduate social work program.
Record of publication commensurate with career status
