Biology Teacher

Bishop Mora Salesian High School seeks a dedicated math and/or science instructor to join our Salesian Family. The position may include geometry, Algebra II, biology, chemistry, physics, and/or anatomy classes depending upon the applicant’s subject area knowledge and teaching interests. You will work closely with colleagues to develop and deliver rigorous curriculum that prepares our students for their next academic and life challenges.

Responsibilities – Biology
• Preparing and delivering engaging biology lessons to students from different backgrounds, who all have different interests and abilities.
• Monitoring student performance and adjusting teaching strategies and techniques for improved content delivery.
• Establishing classroom and laboratory rules and ensuring all students understand and follow them.
• Setting up exams, assessments, and experiments in accordance with curriculum.
• Communicating any student issues to parents, counselors, and other relevant staff members.
• Attending school events, club meetings, and staff meetings as required.
• Representing the school at conferences, workshops, and other networking events.
• Coming up with suggestions to improve the Biology Department and general school operations.

Responsibilities -Algebra I
• Planning and presenting lessons to facilitate students’ understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
• Preparing and distributing learning material such as notes, assignments, and quizzes.
• Sourcing the resources and supplies needed for lessons.
• Ensuring that the classroom remains safe and conducive to learning.
• Grading assignments and quizzes in a timely manner.
• Invigilating quizzes and final examinations.

Requirements
• Math/science subject area bachelor’s degree
• Subject area master’s degree or teaching credential or willingness to complete degree/credential program within next five years
• Prior high school teaching experience preferred
• Willingness to learn and implement an instructional approach that is consistent with the Salesian Oratory Model of “Home, school, church, and playground.”
