ESL Instructor for Adult Learners

### Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated ESL Instructor to teach Beginning and Intermediate Level English as a Second Language students. This role involves close collaboration with a Student Retention & Basic Skills Specialist to ensure students receive comprehensive support. Responsibilities include maintaining academic records, developing engaging lesson plans, providing feedback… and creating course materials.

### Key Responsibilities
• **Lesson Planning:** Create engaging lesson plans tailored to meet the diverse needs of students.
• **Record Keeping:** Maintain accurate records of student performance, including attendance and test results.
• **Communication:** Respond promptly to student inquiries via email and phone.
• **Feedback & Grading:** Provide constructive feedback and grade assignments effectively.
• **Collaboration:** Work closely with the Student Retention & Basic Skills Specialist to align student goals with available program opportunities.
• **Instructional Delivery:** Utilize various teaching modalities, including synchronous, hybrid, and remote methods via platforms like Zoom.

### Work Schedule

Teaching schedules primarily occur in the mornings and afternoons, with potential evening and weekend assignments based on student and community needs.

### Required Qualifications
• Associate’s degree in adult education or a related field from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of two years of experience teaching English Language Learners (ELLs).
• Proficiency in MS Office suite, Zoom, and Learning Management Systems.
• Strong communication skills, particularly with culturally diverse and at-risk populations.
• Willingness to cross-train for other teaching positions in the GED/ESL program.

### Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in ESL/TESOL, adult education, or a related field.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Somali.
• Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA) from the Colorado Department of Education or willingness to obtain it within three years of hire.
• Extensive experience in various instructional modalities for diverse student populations.
• Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

### Compensation and Benefits
• Hourly wage range: $31.06 – $33.76, based on education, skills, and experience.
• Sick leave accrual in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act.
• No benefits package or relocation assistance is provided.
