Hours: Monday – Friday, 19 hours per week
Part-Time status: Part-time
Semester: Summer 2024
Salary Range: $2,100/credit
Reports to: Chair of Department of Education
Location/Department: Whittier College/Department of Education & Child Development
Responsibilities:
• Work with Department Chair and/or designated member of the faculty to understand Whittier College’s teacher education programs and how the course they teach fits within relevant scopes & sequences.
• Participate in the Faculty-Adjunct Kick-Off
• Plan and deliver instruction for the designated course (description and course goals below).
• Monitor student learning, assign and input final grades.
Course Description & Goals
Advanced instructional planning and teaching methods for Single Subject candidates in Spanish. Focuses on appropriate subject-matter-specific methods for planning and teaching a comprehensive program that enables students to achieve state-adopted academic content standards. Topics for candidates in all subject areas include supporting English language learners, responding to student diversity, developing a wide repertoire of teaching methods, and effectively using instructional resources including technology. Certificate of Clearance required in order to complete 40 hours of fieldwork (placement provided by Director of Student Teaching). Individuals taking this course must earn at least a B- in order for the course to count towards preliminary credential.
DAY TBD 5:00-7:50pm (In-Person)
This course would start the week of May 13th, 2024, and end by June 20th.

Minimum Qualifications:
• M.A., MAT, or MEd. in Education or related field.
• Minimum 3 years successful Spanish language teaching experience in a K-12 public middle or high school setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctoral Degree in Education, Human Development or related field.
• Prior experience teaching in CA teacher credential program.
• Prior experience in CA public middle or high school.
