GED/ESOL Instructor – Remote | WFH

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate GED Instructor to create the best possible learning environment for refugee and immigrant clients in a multilevel classroom setting. This role involves teaching adult learners in Science, Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies, specifically tailored toward the General Educational Development (GED) High School Equivalency Test.

Key… Responsibilities

Develop and implement GED curriculum for Science, Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies.

Incorporate current teaching techniques, subject area developments, and up-to-date technology in classroom experiences, including small group instruction, teacher-directed instruction, self-paced instruction, and computer-assisted instruction.

Administer licenses for the EnGen English-language upskilling platform and provide computer literacy training as needed.

Deliver culturally competent and equitable client services with minimal supervision.

Provide both classroom and remote instruction, administering assessments in line with grant requirements.

Prepare comprehensive lesson plans tailored to meet learners’ needs.

Complete necessary paperwork, including lesson plans, attendance records, and test results.

Administer student evaluations as required by funders.

Create, maintain, and submit accurate client records and input data into databases.

Collaborate with the Workforce Solutions Department to develop and implement a client recruitment and retention plan.

Assist in recruiting and training volunteers as needed.

Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Hours

20 hours per week, including classroom, testing, preparation, data collection & reporting, and EnGen license administration & platform understanding.

Classroom hours: Monday 3:00-6:00 pm, Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 3:30-5:30 pm.

Remaining hours can be completed at the instructor’s discretion.

Education And Experience

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.

At least 2 years of experience teaching GED to adults.

At least 2 years of curriculum design experience in ESOL and GED instruction.

At least 2 years of experience teaching ESOL to adults at various levels of English proficiency.

Strong knowledge of computer-assisted instruction and platforms.

Adult Education and/or TESOL or similar certification preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft 365, Zoom, and WhatsApp.
