Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated intern to help develop and organize and create educator training resources for the upcoming Fall semester. This role will involve creating, educational practical and inspirational guides and presentations for educators, paraeducators, and typically developing students at various grade levels. The ideal candidate will assist in compiling and branding DSNetwork’s education-related resources, including parent, sibling and student perspectives.
Responsibilities:
Develop training presentations tailored for different educational levels using existing materials combined with sourcing new materials from reputable, research based sources.
Create practical guides and hands-on activities for educators and students
Ensure all materials are branded with DSNetwork language, logos, and colors
Collaborate with the team to align training materials with DSNetwork’s mission and goals
Assist in delivering pre-recorded and live online training sessions for parents/carers, teachers, and support staff
Other duties as assigned
Topics Covered in Training Sessions Include:
Supporting Early Development
Primary Education
Understanding and Supporting Behavior in Children with Down syndrome
Secondary Education
Dual Diagnosis of Down’s Syndrome and Autism
Creative ways for schools to educate their student and teacher body about Down syndrome
Qualifications:
Student of Bachelor’s or Master’s (Preferred) in Special Education at an Arizona based school
Strong Research skills
Creative input regarding ideas for educators to help de-stigmatize Down syndrome for student body & peer to peer mentoring
Outstanding people skills with a positive attitude
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Strong organizational and time management skills
Tech proficiency in Google Suite, Canva, and other relevant applications
Ability to work independently in a virtual environment
Dependable and strong work ethic with a willingness to contribute as needed
Flexible and adaptable to changing needs and priorities
