Responsibilities
Planning
• Study lessons plans given in curriculum and make suitable to the developmental needs of students.
• Develop PowerPoint presentations and other visual aids to enhance lessons.
• Plan a variety of teaching strategies to match the learning styles of the students.
• Plan ways to integrate Biblical principles and Christian philosophy into curriculum for every subject.
• Organize and file written assessments used to evaluate students.
Teaching
• Instruct students in a variety of subjects throughout the day.
• Give clear directions and well-organized examples and explanations.
• Maintain students’ interest through gestures, body movement, and voice inflection.
• Use class time well with activities that engage students’ attention and have a clear purpose.
• Work with students individually to help them overcome learning challenges.
• Monitor video classes and provide added assistance when needed.
• Review material consistently to reinforce concepts.
Evaluation
• Assign homework effectively and clearly.
• Grade and return students’ work promptly.
• Administer standardized tests in accordance with school’s guidelines.
• Offer a variety of assessment methods.
Tutoring
• During after school study hall, be willing to tutor any student failing a class.
• Identify student needs and offer every opportunity for success to each student.
• Provide assistance when needed on projects and reports.
• Offer extra help classes or review sessions outside of class hours.
• Create assessments that can be offered as extra credit for struggling students such as added quizzes, essays, reports, projects, or other assignments.
Classroom Management
• Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom.
• Instill proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises.
• Enforce a behavior management plan through use of demerits.
• Address inappropriate or off-task behavior quickly.
• Create clear expectations and routines for every portion of your class period.
• Recognize achievements and positive behavior.
• Model ideal behavior by using polite language, maintaining eye contact, speaking with a pleasant tone, letting child speak uninterrupted, etc.
• Protects equipment, materials, and the overall facility by taking all necessary and reasonable precautions.
• Supervise students in different settings as needed, including lunch, chapel, detention, etc.
• Consistently look for ways to build students’ character and instill in them Biblical values.
• Hard work, humility, family, civic duty, faith, accountability etc.
Renweb
• Record grades and attendance daily.
• Log behavior reports for demerits given daily.
• Log homework assignments weekly.
• Log incident reports in both Renweb and Extended Reach.
School Events
• Schedule and plan at least four field trips a year.
• Together with team teachers and possibly spirit committee, schedule and plan for holidays and fun days.
• Assist in scheduling, planning, and supervising all school events.
• Plan special procedures for students’ birthdays.
Other Responsibilities
Community Relations
• Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress and needs.
• Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff.
• Cooperate with the administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school.
• Attend all school functions to show unity, support, and care for students beyond the school day.
Summer Responsibilities
• Utilize educational opportunities for professional growth – typically attend summer seminar.
• Research new methods and strategies to improve teaching.
• Attend department meetings, trainings, etc.
• Prepare classroom for upcoming school year.
• Create or assist in creating documents needed for upcoming school year including students’ supply list and class schedule.
• Assist with Abeka book order by inventorying current books and marking books/materials needed.
• Set up gradebook in Renweb.
• Together with team teachers, plan and schedule out Orientation Day
Duties outside the scope of position – These may include and are not limited to the following:
• Fulfill duties assigned for the school’s yard sale including setup and teardown.
• Fulfill duties at all sporting events: book, clock, lockup, concessions, etc.
• Order and organize school supplies
• Keep secondary library organized and books accounted for.
• Oversee janitorial staff
