Position Overview:
As a New York State Certified Math Teacher with Math Refresh, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective online math tutoring sessions to students of various grade levels. Your primary objective is to support students in understanding and mastering the New York State mathematics curriculum and learning standards. You will have the flexibility to set your own schedule and work with motivated learners to help them achieve their academic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct one-on-one or small group online math tutoring sessions with students based on their grade level and specific needs.
2. Create personalized learning plans and curriculum-aligned lessons tailored to individual student requirements.
3. Assist students in understanding and mastering the New York State math curriculum and learning standards.
4. Provide clear explanations, practice exercises, and real-world examples to reinforce mathematical concepts.
5. Evaluate and assess student progress, adjusting teaching methods and materials as necessary.
6. Foster a positive and motivating learning environment to keep students engaged and excited about math.
7. Communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians to provide progress updates and discuss educational goals.
8. Stay up-to-date with current educational best practices and New York State curriculum changes to ensure high-quality instruction.
Qualifications:
– New York State Teaching Certification in Mathematics (Grade 7-12).
– Strong proficiency in the New York State mathematics curriculum and learning standards.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Passion for teaching and helping students achieve their academic goals.
– Reliable internet access and a computer with video conferencing capabilities and adaptive technology for writing/drawing on a screen.
– Previous tutoring or teaching experience is a plus.
