General Nature or Purpose of the Job:

The Online Mathematics Instructor will mainly be responsible for
teaching college level online math courses, including Calculus I,
II, Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus (Calculus III) and
Ordinary Differential Equations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Monitor student progress and assist students in accomplishing
established learning objectives.
• Interact independently with students using distance education
technologies, primarily Moodle, Zoom, Skype and e-mail.
• Arranging & holding live review sessions with students and
actively checking in on all assigned students.
• Provide timely feedback to students on coursework and
progress.
• Promptly replying to emails, providing detailed feedback on
exams according to a rubric.
• Communicate with students, program administrators and
supervisor to resolve any course related issues.
• Additional duties include assisting with the development of
course related materials; updating and developing curriculum;
participating in new course development; and working closely with
program managers on course related issues

Qualifications

Required Special Skills and Knowledge:
• At least 3 years teaching or tutorial experience at college
level in mathematics.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Required Education and Related Work Experience:
• Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in
mathematics or related field
• Experience in teaching, tutoring mathematics online.
• Ph.D. is strongly preferred.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of
Johns Hopkins University’s salary range for this position. Not all
candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.

work experience, market conditions, education/training and other
