Pay Grade: Grade 3, Step 1, $15.57 per hour
Schedule: 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week / School Year
Job Summary: The online mentor teacher is responsible for managing and coordinating the Alternative Learning Center in order to promote the educational development of each participating student.
Qualifications:
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
Essential Job Functions:
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication
• Ability to successfully supervise, teacher, and manage students
• Ability to successfully support Alternative Learning Center participants through written and verbal communication
• Develop lesson plans
• Provide assistance with difficult and/or unique student situations
• Consistent and reliable attendance
• Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Work may be performed indoors and/or outdoors. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.
Mental Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
