Online Vocabulary Instructor (Part-Time)
The Mini Lesson Center, LLC, is seeking enthusiastic and caring part-time virtual instructors to teach vocabulary classes. A person possessing excellent rapport and expertise in teaching English vocabulary words to elementary and/or secondary students is encouraged to apply. Must be reliable and have exceptional time management skills to consistently… teach online class series (up to 20 hours per week, including paid grading time).

For each lesson you will:
• Enthusiastically teach elementary and middle school students in our online classrooms
• Use vocabulary curricula (Wordly Wise 3000 and Vocabulary from Classical Roots) to teach small classes (between 4 and 10 students) with interactive online learning
• Effectively prepare materials, including Zoom classroom and teaching slides for 60-minute class sessions
• Send timely and careful feedback for assignments
• Thoughtfully add notes to class log, noting any significant achievements, areas of concern, abnormalities, and follow-up items
• Accurately total students’ points
Requirements:
• Passion for teaching and learning
• Enthusiastic, joyful, and professional presence in the virtual classroom with ability to build rapport using an online platform
• 2+ years of online ELA teaching experience for elementary and/or secondary students
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university
• Strong written and verbal communication skills as a native speaker and writer of standard American English
• Highly engaging skills to explain English vocabulary using context clues as well as Latin/Greek roots
• Computer literacy and experience teaching in an online environment and/or the ability to learn new technology and online systems quickly
• Access to a computer and reliable, high-speed internet
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
• High reliability and consistency in attendance and performance
• Commitment to teaching two or more class series (ranging from 12 – 25 weeks, depending on level) from September 2024 to July 2025
• Ability to work well as part of a team and with diverse groups of people
• All applicants will be required to complete a teaching demonstration, provide work authorization, and pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Zoom, Quizlet, Gimkit, Blooket, Google Classroom, and Nearpod
• Cross-cultural experience
• Teaching credential
• WA state resident highly preferred
Compensation: $30 per 60-minute class taught and $7.50 per graded assignment (Class series of 12 – 25 weeks)
