Job Description:

Hi there! I’m looking for an art teacher to teach live online classes via zoom to ages 7 – 12. Teaching credentials are strongly preferred but are not required. A fun, patient, encouraging person who can draw and good classroom management skills is a must. I’m ideally looking for someone who does both non-digital drawing as well as digital art particularly using Procreate and possibly other digital art platforms. If you’re not familiar with Procreate and other digital art platforms, I might still consider your application, but if you are, make sure to include it in your application.

Time commitment:
• Initially, I’m looking for someone who can teach on weekdays and weekends.
• I want to work with you for years, not weeks
• I’m looking for someone who wants to work part-time but has a flexible schedule. This job will be great for somebody who’s also an artist but they can set their own hours for when they create art and teach since the schedule can vary every week.
• I will need someone who can sub for some classes seven (7) days a week with weekend availability. It’s not going to be every day and normally, they will be given a couple of weeks notice.
• It could lead to teaching more hours if you want.
• Priority will go to someone who has a lot of flexibility in their schedule.
• Classes might need to be subbed for at any time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience teaching art (even a little volunteering or experience teaching other subjects is okay)
• Strong skills for realistic drawing. You don’t really need experience with coloring for this position as the classes focus on drawing.
• Patience and kindness are a must
• Strong classroom management skills is a must

In addition, the following is preferred:
• Training in art such as college or other classes
• Teaching credentials would be helpful but not required
• You think animals are adorable and fascinating

This job would not be a good fit for you if:
• You want your own business teaching art online, as the non-compete contract would prevent that. If, however, you teach art in person in your local area, that would be just fine. This position would be a great fit for you if you want a stable job where you can show up and teach without the risk and stress that can come with owning your own business, marketing, customer service, the long road to building up a student base, etc.
• If you run low on patience, then this job would not be a good fit. Most of my students are well-behaved generally speaking, but they are kids, so patience is a must.
• If you are looking for a short-term gig, please do not apply.

ABOUT YOU:

For this position, you must possess the following qualities to be successful:
• You are an encourager and have a heart for cheering students on
• Patient and kind with children
• Must love kids!
• Excellent (online) classroom management (or experience with in-person classroom management)
• Ability to draw animals, dragons, and other subject matter – I’ll give you the reference pictures, which you can copy and also add your own embellishments to if you want
• You smile a lot
• Making learning fun is one of your specialties
• You are responsible and consistently show up on time (or early!)

ABOUT ME:

Here are a few things you should know about me:
• I started teaching art when I was in high school and have run my own art teaching business since 2007.
• My specialty is helping students learn to draw – even if they are a complete beginner
• My art classes are fun and I help students get incredible results
• I pour my heart into teaching
• Entrepreneurship and teaching art are my passions

ABOUT THE POSITION:
• Teach Animal Drawing, Dragon Drawing, and other art classes to kids ages 7 and up.
• Each week, you will only have those two preps, and you’ll teach those same two classes multiple times per week.
• I’ve already created the lesson plans, so your prep would mainly just be to copy the picture that I drew to create your demo for the week.
• With the potential to teach more hours if you want
• There are up to 10 kids in each class

ABOUT COMPENSATION:
• Pay weekly
• We pay bonuses for great work
• We give pay increases based on performance
• Pay rate is negotiable
