Latin School of Chicago is hiring a part-time Upper School Visual Art Teacher for the 2024-25 school year, with an option for renewal. We are seeking a digital photography and filmmaking candidate that will bring their capability to teach and supervise multiple grade levels and establish effective working relationships with students of all ages, as well as faculty, staff, administration, and parents. This position is eligible for benefits.
EXPECTATIONS INCLUDE:
• Work on a team of three to four Visual Art teachers by attending Department meetings, Division meetings, and collaborating on curriculum and pedagogy
• Teach 3 Visual Art electives: Photo 1, Photo 2, and Filmmaking
• Design and apply appropriate instructional methods for meeting lesson objectives, including lesson plans and rubrics
• Organizational skills to oversee daily use, check out & return of dSLR cameras and general maintenance of related equipment
• Familiarity with operating a lighting rig and recording sound booth
• Utilize and manage classroom technology
• Use Standards-Based Assessment and grade calculations in all courses

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree is the minimum requirement. Master’s degree in education or Visual Art, or related content field is preferred.
• 3-5 years’ experience teaching Visual Art in a secondary school setting is preferred
• A strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software
• Working knowledge of Epson color printers, scanners, Wacom graphics tablets and iPads
• Strong critical thinking, reflection, and communication skills, including spoken and written communication
• Must be flexible in using standards-based assessment for assessments
• Able to use the Google suite platform and Canvas for communication, grading assessments, keeping grades, student digital portfolios, and curriculum. Applicants do not have to be an expert with these programs but must have strong technology skills and a desire to learn
