We are seeking our next Part-time Professional Tutor – Academic Success Center – Hereford who… will be all-in on our mission and who will provide non-classroom academic assistance/instruction to students on an individual or small-group basis for reading, writing, science and math.EDUCATION:
Required: Associate’s Degree
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
• Teaching in the subject area in a secondary setting or
• Experience in developing innovative curriculum and utilizing educational technology.
Preferred:
• Experience teaching developmental education curriculum in a community college.
• Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
• Provide students with learning strategies such as study skills, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies.
• Provide supplemental instructions to students, either in individual or group settings to improve academic performance.
• Organize the tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning.
• Develop tutoring materials for student.
• Support the operation of the department in which you are tutoring, during business hours.
• Support the mission of the department in which you are tutoring as stated in the Tutor Code of Conduct.
• Communicate with faculty in regard to student needs and/or tutoring completion.

Salary: Pay grade 10 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)
Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision
