YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
• You are a certified or retired teacher (non-negotiable).
• You are authorized to work in the United States with a degree in education or teaching and have K-6 classroom teaching experience
• You are a knowledgeable literacy educator, with a background in the Science of Reading including phonics, structured literacy instruction, and how to support students in building reading comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency.
• You are obsessed with student learning! We use a data-driven instructional model to help students make huge gains in literacy in a relatively short period of time. Achieving this requires tutors who believe that every student can learn to read well with great literacy instruction.
• You have reliable technology and a quiet workspace. OpenLiteracy tutoring lessons take place online. Tutors must have access to reliable, high-speed Internet, a quiet, distraction-free environment to conduct lessons, and a reliable laptop/desktop with camera and microphone functionality.
• You are organized and a great time manager. You show up on time, manage a calendar with ease, and are able to manage tutoring sessions to start and end at their scheduled times.
