Job Summary: Antioch School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing high-quality education and support to students with disabilities and will meet all required licensure and certification requirements to work in Illinois public schools.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
• Provide specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with a range of disabilities.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure the success of students with disabilities in the general education setting.
• Use assessment data to inform instruction and monitor student progress.
• Implement behavior management strategies and interventions as needed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress and services provided.
• Participate in IEP meetings and other team meetings related to student support and progress.
• Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in professional development activities.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement (Learning Behavior Specialist I).
• Certification in Special Education (required for teaching students with disabilities).
• Previous experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
• Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Licensure and Certifications:
• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement.
• Certification in Special Education.
