Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University–Worldwide Campus (ERAU-W)
seeks a tenure-track assistant professor with a Ph.D. in
Criminology, Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Security Studies,
or a related field.

This is a fully remote online position (U.S.-based) with no
relocation required; travel will be required at least once per
year to attend commencement and mandatory college meetings as well
as relevant other events.

Candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice,
Homeland Security, Sociology, Security Studies or a related field
and have an active, developing pertinent scholastic research
agenda.

The Department of Security and Emergency Services (renamed
Department of Emergency, Disaster and Global Security Studies
effective July 1, 2024), includes the following degree programs:
M.S. Human Security and Resilience, M.S. Emergency Services, B.S.
Homeland Security, and B.S. Emergency Services as well as minors in
Security Studies, Military Science, International Relations,
Homeland Security and Emergency Services. Faculty are active
scholars in their disciplines and collaborators across the college
and with external partners.

The successful candidate will teach in several of the above
programs based on their qualifications. The position will also
contribute to teaching in the General Education program. Teaching
modalities primarily include asynchronous and synchronous online
delivery. A limited number of face-to-face offerings may be
available based on faculty location.

The successful candidate will maintain an exemplary level of
research and scholarly activity. ERAU offers a variety of internal
research support programs, including college- and university-level
funding opportunities. Service responsibilities for this candidate
are likely to include contributing to student success through
recruitment and retention efforts, developing the Security Studies
minor and other curriculum and program development, as well as
participation on departmental, college, and/or university
committees.

with a focus on developing students’ capacity in critical thinking,
quantitative reasoning, information literacy, communication,
scientific literacy, cultural literacy, technological literacy, and
collaboration. The Worldwide Campus has an enrollment of more than
23,000 students, delivering courses globally online via Canvas,
synchronously via EagleVision to both homes and classrooms,
face-to-face at over 130 locations, and in a blended format. About

Qualifications

Required education:
• Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Homeland Security,
Sociology, Security Studies or a related field

Preferred qualifications:
• Applicants with a specialization in cybersecurity or an area
that complements the research and teaching expertise of the current
faculty in the department.

scholarly productivity, plans for further development of their
scholarship, and their potential contributions to student success
in the online education environment. Additional materials, such as
