As an Online High School Instructor, you will provide web-based instruction to high school students in the State of Alabama.
Key Responsibilities…
Maintain regular contact with facilitators and students regarding student progress.
Log in to the learning management system daily during any term in which you are assigned a course.
Respond to student emails, provide feedback on activities, grade assignments, and monitor student participation.
Create and post timely announcements to keep students on pace and facilitators informed.
Monitor student login times and address any concerns or irregularities with the facilitator, school administrator, or designee.
Post news items and events related to course activities and assignments.
Preview all activities, links, and quizzes in the learning management system before assigning them to students.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Certification to teach grades 6-12 in the State of Alabama or be a faculty member of an accredited institution of higher education.
Some classroom experience in the content area being taught.
Ability to pass the fingerprint/background check required by the Alabama State Department of Education for the ACCESS Distance Learning Initiative.
Participation in AP training and a minimum of one year of experience for those teaching Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
Authorization from the College Board for those teaching a video conferencing (VCI) AP course.
Skills and Knowledge
Proficiency in using learning management systems and other resources for successful course delivery.
Expertise in the specific content area and prior participation in professional development related to online course delivery.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, facilitators, counselors, and school administration.
Ability to deliver high-quality instruction within a Learning Management System (LMS).
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of teaching experience in Alabama or notable accomplishments as an educator.
Enthusiastic new teachers interested in teaching in a fully digital environment.
