Adjunct Faculty, Online Marriage and Family Therapy

The online MFT program at Abilene Christian University is seeking qualified applicants to join the adjunct faculty pool. Well-qualified applicants will:
• Provide high-quality instruction, direction, and support for students in the online classroom environment. Participate with the program faculty and Program Director in planning, development, and implementation of program and curriculum. Engage in an ongoing research agenda and/or maintain clinical competency and supervision certification.

The program is searching for faculty who are credentialed to teach Research Methods, Sexual Therapy, Play Therapy, and Cultural Diversity in Family Therapy.

Provide high-quality instruction, direction, and support for students in the online classroom environment.
• Provide rich and timely feedback on student work, being both encouraging and constructively critical. Facilitate class size of up to 24 students. Provide timely and helpful answers to students’ inquiries regarding course material or… academic matters. Conduct required synchronous interaction sessions. Facilitate and grade all assignments in a timely manner. Enter final course grades in Banner system. Alert Program Director to any student issues. This includes performance issues (e.g. failing grades, failing to turn in assignments, etc.) and policy violation issues (e.g. plagiarism). Engage in andragogically sound teaching methods designed for an adult learner. Comply with all pertinent policies and procedures outlined in Abilene Christian University’s Handbook, Faculty Handbook, and those specified by ACU’s College of Graduate and Professional Studies and the Program.

Participate with the program faculty and Program Director in planning, development, implementation of program and curriculum.
• Provide feedback to Program Director for program and/or course improvement. Participate in program and faculty meetings. Attend/complete program and CGPS faculty trainings and provide credentialing/records updates as required.

Engage in an ongoing research agenda and/or maintain clinical competency and supervision certification.
• Develop and maintain an ongoing research agenda in the context of the scholarship of teaching and learning. Gain and maintain knowledge of trends and information pertaining to program field through current practice, professional reading, active research and/or continuing education. Participate in clinical and/or scholarly activities designed to maintain credentialing in the field of marriage and family therapy.

Provide quality instruction and support to students while maintaining academic and university standards at the master’s level. Ability to collaborate or work independently as the situation requires. Current and unencumbered licensure as a marriage and family therapist. Current AAMFT-Approved Supervisor or Candidate. Knowledge of COAMFTE accreditation standards and processes.

Training Modules Required
• Microsoft Word and Excel Google Calendar, Mail, Sheets and Docs Canvas and Bridge (on-Line Learning Platforms)

Qualifications:

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of Churches of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.

Professional
• Terminal degree in marriage and family therapy or a closely related field. Current and unencumbered licensure as a marriage and family therapist. Current AAMFT-Approved Supervisor or Candidate. Instructional experience and working in a team environment, including in an online environment preferred. Computer literate in software and internet-based applications. Proficient in APA style.

Capacity to quickly learn new software applications Willingness to receive additional training and/or faculty mentoring. Ability to demonstrate good judgment when interacting with students, other faculty and staff. Access to reliable internet connection.

Physical Demands:
• Majority of work is performed in front of a computer and on the telephone; must have the ability to use the computer and remain stationary for long periods of time.
• Manage conversations in person, online and by telephone.
• Work well under pressure and manage stress well.
• Communicate clearly: speak, read, write, and hear clearly to perform essential functions
