SUMMARY…

The California Institute of Advanced Management (CIAM) is a WASC accredited, non-profit graduate school located in Alhambra, California. CIAM’s approach to education provides a practical and hands-on approach to students who are thereby equipped to lead and succeed in industry. Our emphasis is on the application of the subject matter and the student’s ability to demonstrate integration of the subject matter into their lives. The university’s mission is “to build upon the philosophy of Peter F. Drucker, through classroom and online learning, producing successful, responsible globally oriented leaders who are rooted in practice” using the principles of Management as a Liberal Art and business sub-disciplines to educate, train, and send out managers and leaders who are prepared and equipped for the needs of today’s organizations, communities, and society. The University offers in-person classes which are hybrid, with some weekend sessions on campus. The rest of the hybrid courses are offered online in both synchronous and asynchronous formats. Online classes are 100% asynchronous.

The university awards an MBA in Executive Management with two concentrations:
• Project Management
• Business Analytics

The university was recently approved by WASC to offer a brand new Master of Science in Data Analytics. This program is projected to be launched in Fall 2025.

Currently, the university is working on approval for a third program, a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership, which we hope to have approved in 2025.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Completed Ph.D. or ABD, from a regionally-accredited university (official transcripts required with application).
• Minimum of 10 years applied business experience in the profession related to the degree area and teaching area.
• Experience teaching and facilitating in-person and online using various instructional methods.
• Familiarity with teaching via an LMS, experience with Canvas preferred.
• Published research in degree area a plus.
• Demonstration of a life-long learner approach to the field and other subjects.
• Demonstrated value in the human dignity and strengths of everyone, regardless of their position or station.
• Commitment to cultivating and developing inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
• Demonstrates commitment in understanding of cultural differences.
• Candidate must be a California resident to be considered.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach graduate level classes in the following modalities: face-to-face, online and hybrid.
• Integrate the philosophy of Management as a Liberal Art into courses taught.
• Assist and provide direction to students in high impact learning experiences.
• Regularly hold office hours providing accessibility to students and colleagues.
• Attend Faculty-in-Service meetings.
• Participate in Management as a Liberal Art training sessions and discussions.
• Represent CIAM to external constituents by bridging the academic and business community with the university to further the focus on high impact learning experiences for students.

3. Course Evaluations: Submit several course evaluations for classes taught at the graduate level.

4. Teaching Philosophy: Provide a 3–5-page summary of your teaching philosophy. The philosophy should include your purpose for teaching in higher education, expectations of students, teaching approach and methodologies used. Also explain your thoughts on teaching to the needs of society today. Include examples, learning experiences, and ideals you have for your students.

5. References: Submit the names, titles, addresses, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses of three people familiar with your academic and professional background who can be contacted concerning your qualifications. Please state their relationship to you; at least one person should be able to speak about your focus on your contributions to the betterment of society.

6. Additional Information:
• Candidate submissions will be reviewed, and a phone interview conducted to identify qualified candidates. Qualified candidates will then be invited for a virtual interview, and then to our facilities in Alhambra, California, to present a sample class presentation. Candidates may also be invited to participate in a series of individual and/or group interview sessions.
• Applicants are required to reside in California, Southern California is preferred.
• The Canvas Learning Platform is used for all classes.
• Must be able to travel to campus to teach during in-person class sessions which are predetermined by the university and cannot be changed.
• On-site teaching dates vary but may include one to two weekend days per month, per regular term. You will know all dates and times when you are invited to teach ahead of each semester. Fully online opportunities are also possible.
• All courses are already designed and created and ready for you to teach in Canvas. Instructors do not have to create their courses from scratch; however, you are encouraged to share weekly guidance, and any additional sources and/or teaching aids you feel would add value to the student’s experience.
• Adjunct faculty pay starts at $3,500.00 per course with opportunities for promotion.

Additionally, CIAM’s Annual Safety and Security Report 2020-2022 report is available to you. This report is required by federal law and contains policy statements and crime statistics for the school. The policy statements address the school’s policies, procedures and programs concerning safety and security, for example, policies for responding to emergency situations and sexual offenses.
