Informatics (IDSI) is accepting applications for a non-tenure track
(NTT) Teaching Professor (all ranks) of Data Science and Analytics
(DSA) in our nationally recognized Fortune top 10 Data Science
& Analytics Online Master of Science Degree program
(http://dsa.missouri.edu).

Upon hire, this position will be teaching four sections of graduate
level data science and analytics focused courses per semester in
online and on-campus formats. This position is a 9-month non-tenure
track academic faculty appointment at any rank dependent upon
reviewed qualifications and experience.

We are seeking interdisciplinary minded data scientists interested
in combining academic rigor with industry awareness or
collaborative experiences to work in a vibrant environment to
educate emerging and working professionals entering the data
science workforce. In today’s data-driven, information-centric
world, data and derived value are becoming an increasingly
important criterion for success in organizations, big and small,
independent of industry focus. The demand for data scientists in
the American workforce is expected to continue to grow at a healthy
pace for the next ten years and so is the MU Data Science and
Analytics program. The initial responsibilities for this position
are 80% teaching, and 20% service.

The responsibilities for this position include:

Teaching online and on-campus sections with course development and
improvement.

Student advising and project-centered mentorship.

Curriculum support and academic program enhancement and
enrichment.

Program assessment and quality Improvement.

Professional development and engagement.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science,
Informatics, Applied Statistics, or closely related field by start
of appointment is required.

Candidates will be evaluated on
• Their background in teaching data science and analytics using
computational tools and methods;
• Experience with various big data computational ecosystems,
• Familiarity with on-line teaching is a plus, along with typical
in-seat instruction for on-campus classes.
• Strong expertise in Data Science including proficiency in data
analysis, machine learning, statistical modeling, and programming
languages, interest in AI and other tools commonly used in Data
Science and Analytics (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Jupyter, AWS, GCP,
Nautilus Clusters, etc.).
• Online and on-campus teaching experience with a commitment to
Graduate DSA education excellence.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability
to effectively convey complex concepts and technologies to students
and interdisciplinary colleagues with diverse backgrounds and
experiences.
• Experience or interest in curriculum development and the
ability to design and deliver innovative and engaging courses in
Data Science, Analytics, or Artificial Intelligence.
• An emerging or documented track record of scholarly
productivity, such as publications in reputable journals or
conference proceedings
