POSITION SUMMARY

Purpose…

The Assistant Baseball Coach and Teacher will help VHA achieve its stated mission “to equip students spiritually, intellectually, and physically to love God and serve Him as Christ’s ambassadors in the world.” The selected candidate will serve as Head Coach of the Middle School Baseball Team and as an assistant the Head Coach of the Varsity Baseball Team. The Varsity Team has won 3 straight State Championships.

Overview:
The Assistant Baseball Coach and Teacher shall be:
One who has received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and be a member and/or in consistent regular attendance in good standing in a local church.
A person of spiritual maturity and shall reflect the purpose of the school which is to honor Christ in all things.
Experienced, thoughtful, and adept at inspiring individual discipline and excellence in teamwork.
Able to direct all aspects of the VHA athletic program assigned, with primary oversight for guiding, mentoring, and supervising student-athletes at the varsity and middle school levels developing a team culture which emphasized life lessons consistent with a Biblical worldview.
Able to collaborate in a community of dynamic and engaged Christian educators.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree (minimum)
Association of Christian Schools Teacher Certification (or eligible for the certificate)
Experienced classroom teacher In History, Language Arts, Bible, or Physical Education preferred
Previous experience as a Coach at the middle or high school level preferred, assistant coaching experience and/or extensive playing experience on the collegiate level may substitute for coaching experience
CPR and First Aid Certification

2. Believes that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living.

3. Is a Christian role model in attitude, speech and actions toward others. This includes being committed to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct. Luke 6:40

4. Is a member in good standing at a church that has a Statement of Faith in agreement with VHA’s Statement of Faith.

5. Is in whole-hearted agreement with VHA’s Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education.

6. Maintains a close personal walk with the Lord evidenced by example and spiritual leadership among peers and with co-workers.

7. Observes the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, faculty, staff and administration.

DUTIES AND

RESPONSIBILITIES

Professional functions:

1. Attends staff meetings.

2. Knows and observe school policies and regulations.

3. Exhibits a neat, well-groomed appearance.

4. Treats each person with respect and courtesy.

Essential functions:

1. Provide outstanding classroom teaching and management in the area assigned.

2. Execute a Christ-honoring, competitive athletic program in the sport assigned.

3. Assess players and coaches effectively.

4. Disciple athletes while motivating them for competition.

5. Promote VHA athletics through camps, coaching clinics, and interaction with younger grades.

6. Perform other duties related to the position of assistant coach or as directed by the Head Coach, Athletic Director and Headmaster.
