Position Summary: JCCC is searching for non-credit
instructors to teach English to non-native speakers by emphasizing
reading, vocabulary development, listening, speaking, writing and
grammar in a student-centered classroom environment. Please note
that these positions are not located on the main JCCC campus. They
are located at our West Park and Center of Grace locations. These
positions are not adjunct positions.
• Create and submit weekly lesson plans, utilizing the digital
template provided, to the building lead.
• Learn and implement the required curriculum that emphasizes
life skills, workplace skills, digital literacy,
civics/citizenship.
• Access and utilize the JCAE ESL website and other on-line
resources to teach in a classroom setting.
• Maintain student data, attendance records and other on-line
resources to teach in a classroom setting.
• Complete student reports at the end of each semester.
• Participate in new student intake on-boarding such as
registration, orientation, and testing.
• Participate in staff development activities both on-line and
in-person each semester.
• In addition to completing JCCC annual mandatory training and
administrative requirements, there are additional onboarding
requirements for new teachers. These requirements may involve
account setup, website access, lesson plan training, Google
Classroom setup, data entry, and other tasks to prepare for the
class.
• Attend weekly staff meetings.
• Work with the building lead to schedule a formal observation.
This will be followed by a debrief, and a follow up observation to
confirm that recommendations have been implemented.
• Fill-in periodically for other teachers.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English as a Second Language or
related area.
• Experience working with English language learners in a
classroom setting.
• Create and maintain a student-centered classroom.
• Demonstrate classroom management skills.
• Work with multi-level learners.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google classroom, on-line
resources, and classroom

technology.
• Flexibility a must in teaching practices and scheduling.
• Minimum of one year teaching in a classroom setting, not
individual tutoring.
• Experience working with a culturally diverse population.
• Experience working with Microsoft office applications.
• Experience teaching adult learners.

Preferred Qualifications:
• TESOL certificate from an accredited university or Master’s
degree in teaching English as a Second Language.
• Ability to work with a diverse adult student population.
• Ability to teach in a student-centered classroom for 3-hour
sessions where cooperative learning is emphasized.
• Experience teaching adult English Language Learners.
• Experience working with Google Classroom.
