• Teach reading, writing and grammar
• Carry out assessment
• Depending on the student’s needs, prompt students to write compositions or essays or simply teach the basics of sentence composition.
• Help students fully comprehend the content of written passages, or having students read aloud to help with oral communication skills.
• May assign students reading homework to be reviewed during the next session. Practice their speaking skills.
• Work with students on specific coursework from their classroom teacher, such as reviewing and critiquing an essay or increasing their reading comprehension.
