GED Instructor – Remote | WFH

Overview

As a GED Instructor, you will play a vital role in helping adult learners achieve their GED certification. You will create engaging and interactive lesson plans for both online and in-person classes, tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of each student. Key Responsibilities

Teach adult learners in both classroom and virtual settings.

Develop and deliver lesson plans for GED-level math and science.

Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies and models to support student learning.

Create personalized study plans and action steps for students as needed.

Monitor and address academic challenges related to GED content.

Maintain accurate records, including assessment results and attendance.

Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and workshops as required.

Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement.

Build strong relationships with students to enhance retention and progress.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ability to teach individuals with diverse abilities and backgrounds.

Strong knowledge of math and science concepts.

Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Effective classroom management and problem-solving abilities.

Strong time management and stress management skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Experience with tracking student data in databases is a plus.

Familiarity with CampusVue, SID, Canvas, and virtual video-conferencing platforms is preferred but not required.

Work Environment

This role typically involves working in a professional office and classroom setting, with potential opportunities for remote work.

Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets will be used.

The position may require long periods of stationary work, operating office machinery, and frequent communication with students.

Position Type And Hours

Full-time, exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend work as needed.

Travel

Limited travel may be required.

Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in adult basic education, math, or a related field.

At least one year of experience teaching adults.

Preferred Experience

More than two years of teaching experience.

Teaching license.

Experience with online teaching platforms like Canvas, Google Classroom, and Zoom.

Familiarity with CampusVue, Campus Nexus, or SID data systems.
