Overview:**
The Instructor, Criminal Justice Institute (WTCE) is a full-time faculty member responsible for teaching and advising students in the Criminal Justice program. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to quality teaching, student success, and student completion. The instructor will also be responsible for curriculum development, assessment, and… revision, as well as participating in departmental and college-wide activities. **Responsibilities:**
• Teach a variety of courses in the Criminal Justice program, including law enforcement, corrections, and criminal justice theory
• Advise and mentor students in the program
• Develop and implement curriculum, assessing student learning outcomes and revising curriculum as needed
• Participate in departmental and college-wide activities, including committee work and professional development
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and grades
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and improve measurable learning outcomes
• Participate in instructional, departmental, or institutional research to improve educational effectiveness
• Support student learning through student engagement and creating a positive learning environment
• *Qualifications:**
• Associate’s degree in the teaching discipline from a regionally accredited college OR a High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) or more years of active law enforcement experience with subject matter expertise in law enforcement or comparable military service
• Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) certified or licensed Instructor, or have the ability to become one within the first year of hire
• Valid driver’s license supported by DPS Certified AR Driving Record
• No criminal convictions of Misdemeanor B or above within the last 10 years, or circumstances that would prevent eligibility to handle confidential information provided by the law enforcement and criminal justice organizations
