Position Overview: As a Special Education Teacher in our district, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special needs by providing targeted interventions and personalized support. You will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to develop and implement effective strategies to address individual learning challenges and promote academic success. This position requires… a deep understanding of special education principles, expertise in intervention techniques, and a compassionate approach to meeting the unique needs of each student.
Case Load:
• Small Group: K-1st
• 3 – 4 students in a small group setting
• School Year: August 2024 – May 2025
• Full Time: 37.5 hours/ week
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct assessments to identify students’ strengths, weaknesses, and individualized learning goals
• Develop and implement personalized intervention plans tailored to each student’s specific needs and learning styles
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to provide integrated support and accommodations
• Monitor student progress regularly and adjust intervention strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement
• Provide direct instruction and support in areas such as reading, math, behavior management, and social skills development
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Special Education or Teaching Students with Special Needs
• Valid Special Education State Teaching License in Georgia
• Must have experience with Learning and Behavior Disorders (LBD) and Emotional and Behavior Disorders (EBD)
• Must be proficient in Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Experience in small group, K-1 teaching preferred
