Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, tenure-track status.

Position Description

The University of Texas at Arlington School of Social Work invites
nominations and applications for multiple Assistant Professor
Tenure-Track and Associate/Full Professor Tenured positions
effective Fall 2025.

We are especially interested in adding faculty who will strengthen
our capacity in the areas of Mental Health and Substance
Misuse/Addiction Studies. Additionally, applicants with research
that aligns with the UTA 2030 Strategic Plan: Shared Dreams, Bright
Future and the theme of Health and Human Condition (see

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to
education and to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate
students.

Required Qualifications

Required qualifications for the assistant professor position
are:
• Ph.D. in social work or a related field ( ABD considered if PhD
is expected before 9/1/24)
• A record of publication in recognized refereed academic
journals
• Evidence of a commitment to high-impact and interdisciplinary
research and obtaining external funding

Required qualifications for the associate/full professor
positions are:
• Earned PhD in Social Work or related field
• Eligibility for a tenured appointment
• Established a program of research with a progressive track
record of external funding
• A record of successfully managing funded research projects
• A strong record of scholarly journal publications

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications for the assistant professor
position are:
• Master of Social Work ( MSW ) Degree (if from an international
university, the applicant must send in a letter of equivalency from
CSWE )
• Two years of post- MSW practice experience
• Teaching and mentoring experience, with the ability to teach in
the tracks emphasized above
• Ability and interest in teaching online courses

Preferred qualifications for associate/full professor are:
• Established a program of research with significant federal
funding
• A strong record of participating in interdisciplinary research
work
• A strong record of teaching and mentoring

The School of Social Work promotes the highest standards of

creates collaborative scholarly and educational opportunities for

society. We are one of the largest programs in the country, with
more than 2,200 students enrolled in the BSW, Bachelor of Science
in Substance Use and Treatment ( BSSUT ), MSW, and Ph.D.
programs.

The School houses three Minors: Diversity Studies Minor, the
Substance Use Treatment Minor, and the Social Welfare Minor, and
five graduate certificates. It is also home to two professional
journals: The Journal of Policy Practice and Research and
Adoption Quarterly.
