The selected candidate will be hired to remotely teach beginner-level to advanced Chinese (Mandarin) in a long-term appointment. All lessons will be conducted virtually via Canvas and Zoom.
【POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES】
· Participate in the mandatory Virtual NCE Orientation Webinar and possible virtual teaching/facilitation training.
· Conduct 60-minute online Chinese classes.
· Respond to work-related or student emails within 24 hours.
· Attend teacher meetings, participate in professional development training, report on students’ learning progress, and address any issues.
· Thoroughly plan for each class meeting by preparing engaging language lesson activities and manage the digital online classroom.
· Provide homework reminders and share learning materials on the learning management system (Canvas). Additionally, check students’ homework and provide feedback.
· Create and publish the course syllabus for each session’s plan at least 3 days before the course begins.
· Participate in monthly check-ins with NCE staff and incorporate feedback into practice.
【Qualifications】:
Candidates will be considered without respect to race, color, religion, sexual orientation or gender. Competitive applicants will have the following skills/qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Teaching license/certificate preferred;
• At least two years online teaching experience and demonstrated professional experience teaching in virtual environments;
• At least three years of classroom teaching experience at the time of application.
• Demonstrated understanding of pedagogy;
• Professional proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese.
