JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Instructor position in the team-taught fall-semester course “The First-Year Experience.” Sections are composed of 12- 15 students. Course content is already prepared and coordinated by faculty. Course topics vary and do not require subject matter expertise, but instructors will be expected to lead discussions about assigned academic texts and/or teach academic writing skills. Applicants may indicate how many (up to 4) sections they wish to teach during the fall semester.
BACKGROUND
The First-Year Experience is a team-taught course designed to instruct students in how to analyze and discuss academic texts and ideas, and to produce college-level academic writing and presentations. Courses in a wide variety of topics are available, led by faculty topic coordinators.

JOB DUTIES
• Undergraduate teaching: Fall semester, sections of 12-15 students. Applicants may indicate their preference for teaching up to 4 sections.
• Evaluating and providing students with appropriate feedback on their written and oral work.
• Be available to help students at regular, designated times outside class time.
• Participate in regular meetings with other FYE topic instructors.

APPOINTMENT DETAILS
Appointments are for the Fall semester (late August – mid December) and are compensated at $5000 per section.

EDUCATION
REQUIRED
• Masters degree (or higher, or equivalent) in any field of study.
PREFERRED
• Experience teaching college-level writing.
