We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Adapted Physical Education Teacher to join the team full-time in a school district located in Mount Prospect, IL. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized physical education instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Responsibilities…
• Develop and implement appropriate physical education programs for students with disabilities in accordance with their IEP goals.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, other related service providers, and parents/guardians to ensure that the physical education program is integrated into the overall educational program.
• Assess students’ motor skills, physical fitness, and abilities and develop individualized goals and objectives to improve their physical abilities.
• Monitor and evaluate students’ progress and adjust instruction as needed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and attendance.
• Attend IEP meetings and communicate regularly with parents/guardians and other team members regarding students’ progress and needs.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Adapted Physical Education or a related field.
• State Adapted Physical Education Teaching Credential.
• Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a school setting.
• Knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to use technology to support student learning and progress monitoring.
