Harrisburg University of Science and Technology is seeking corporate faculty members to teach courses in Interactive Media (IMED) Bachelor of Science program. Candidates for these positions should have professional and/or academic experience associated with the course titles listed below. Teaching locations vary across the Harrisburg and Philadelphia campuses, as well as some limited fully online… teaching.
Course Openings
• Visual Design Fundamentals (Harrisburg & Philadelphia)
• Cinema Studies (Philadelphia)
• 3D Modeling 1 (Harrisburg, or remote)
• Interactive Design Perspectives (Harrisburg)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties may vary and other duties may be assigned):
• Demonstrates ability to advance the university’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity through teaching and mentoring
• Demonstrates ability to form collaborations and/or partnerships with faculty across cognate programs, as well as the ability to work collegially and collaboratively with faculty and staff with the IMED program
• Demonstrates ability to teach a combination of practice-based studio and seminar classes
• Course management for undergraduate students
• Capacity to teach theory and practice-based approaches
• Opportunities might exist to teach in other technology-related programs or in the General Education program, depending on the candidate’s capacity and the university’s need
Position Requirements
• Applicants must include a one – page teaching statement that addresses teaching to less – represented populations within higher education.
• Master’s degree or higher in one of the following areas: social and behavioral sciences, human – computer interaction, computer science and computer engineering, or equivalent.
• Prior teaching experience preferred; based on principles of active engagement, blended learning, authentic assessment, POGIL etc. Previous experience in advising experiential learning on the undergraduate and graduate level is a plus.
• Ability to advance the university’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity through teaching and mentoring.
• Ability to form collaborations and/or partnerships with faculty across cognate programs.
• As Harrisburg University is predominately a teaching institution, research capacity within these fields of study is desirable but not necessary
